Where are you from? How did you end up in Delaware?

I was born in Vermont, but growing up my family and I moved all over the country for my dad's job. I've lived in the northeast, the pacific northwest, the midwest and now on the East Coast of DE! I absolutely LOVED all the travel and I am so thankful I got to experience all the amazing places all across this country!

How did you get into photography? What keeps you interested and inspired?

I started photography as a hobby when I got my first camera at age 12, as a gift from my grandparents. I had friends who were also into photography at the time, and so we used to do little photo shoots of each other for fun and I absolutely fell in love with it. From then on I always had my camera with me, and once I got to high school and started really thinking about what I wanted to do when I graduated, I knew I wanted to pursue photography as a career. I started my business at 17 when I graduated, and I never looked back! I love being my own boss and getting to do what I love for a living! But most of all I love that I get to use my creativity to empower my clients to see their own unique beauty and encourage them to see the value of who they are. I stay inspired by constantly learning, growing and improving my art and my style. I always try to follow and learn from others who are successful in the industry, and who's work I admire!

If you could choose anything to do as a career besides photography, what would it be?

If I was to do something else as a career besides photography, I would probably do something that still involved creativity and being self employed! Possibly an interior designer, a cafe owner, or a travel blogger!

Who are your biggest inspirations/heroes?

Some of my biggest inspirations/heroes are my mom, (she is the reason I am who I am today- she taught me everything important in my life!) my friends Rayla and Rachel Collins, who i've known since I was 11 and who helped, encouraged and taught me so much about how to start my own photography business, and of course my amazing hubby, who inspires me everyday by the way he fearlessly lives and leads at work, and the way he sacrifices, loves and cares for his family!

What are some of your favorite motivational quotes?

"Live less out of habit and more out of intent." "Get in the habit of asking yourself- 'does this support the life i am trying to create?'" "If you see something beautiful in someone, speak it." "She confidently trusts the Lord to take care of her. -Psalm 112:7"

If you could tell pre-entrepreneur you anything, what would it be?

Success looks different for everyone. Just because someone you admire wants something out of their business and life, doesn't mean you have to want that too. Success means something different for everyone, and that's okay! Just focus on creating the life YOU want, and don't compare yourself to what everyone else is doing and what their success looks like. Growth takes time, so be patient with yourself and give yourself grace to learn and improve. Don't give up. You will bloom.

If you could travel anywhere in the world (resources aren’t holding you back!) where would it be, why, and how long would you stay? (If more than one, what order? Give us your world tour itinerary!)

Ahh this is SUCH a hard question to answer because there are SO many places I want to travel to!! One of my top choices would have to be Iceland- I would love to go with my hubby and baby, (always dreamt of traveling with my family so my kids can experience traveling growing up just like I did!) and explore the beauty of such a wild, rugged, untamed place! I also would love to visit New Zealand, Scotland, England, Ireland, Italy, Australia, Switzerland, and France.

What are some of your big goals for the future? Photography or non-photography related.

A few of my future goals: build our dream house, own my own creative studio where other creatives can meet and work all together, write a book, travel with my fam, build a strong local community of boss women who support each other, continue growing our family and be a safe place where my kids can grow up and always feel loved, valued and at home, continue to grow my business that can help support the lifestyle we want to live, and that I can use to share and be generous to others in need.

Congratulations on being a new mom! How do you balance new mom life and photography? What’s your favorite part about having a new little beb? 😍

It's definitely been a learning process since becoming a mom while still running a business! I've found that prioritizing and planning/organizing is crucial. I had to decide ahead of time what things are going to be the most important parts of my life, and then make my future choices based on that. For example, it's really important to me to be at home with my baby as much as possible, so I decided to only book shoots on the weekend, so that I can be home during the week and focus on enjoying spending time with my boy as he grows! Learning to say no is such a powerful thing. Saying no to certain projects, opportunities or obligations that don't align with my ideal lifestyle means I can say yes to the things that are most important to me and the season of life i'm currently in!

I LOVE being a mama, and helping this tiny human learn and navigate life is the biggest blessing in the world!!
